DispatcherDame's Diatribes

Ups and downs of the job

Some shifts are tougher than others.

Some are just downright draining.

I had one of those shifts recently, but ended up walking out feeling totally content and loving my job.

In the midst of a quadruple fatal traffic collision, the regular idiot 911 callers, and supervisors being their regular selves, we reunited an elderly gentleman with his family after four days missing.

Sometimes things just go right. Those are the days that help us remember why we do what we do, and keep us coming back for more.

A twenty-something dispatcher taking 911 calls, yapping on the radio, and dealing with the general public - with a mad case of headset hair. Not quite so jaded yet, but not naive as I once was. Losing my soul one call at a time.

This reflects my views and not the view of my employer, etc.  If you have a problem with this, I suggest using the back button.
